The most notable difference between a French Oven and a Cocotte is that the French Oven is slightly conical and has rounded edges, making it perfect for all recipes that require frequent stirring. However, the excellent cooking characteristics of the STAUB enameled cast iron cookware are the same: even heat distribution, long temperature retention, delicious roasting aromas and a lid that keeps all moisture inside. In the case of the French Oven, that lid is domed and features the distinctive Chistera drop structure.

With an elegant pink glazing in our newest color “Sorbet Rose” and a shiny brass knob, the French Oven looks great on the table as well when you use it to serve straight from the oven.
