Description
The resounding success of the Staub Pumpkin had us asking what other heirloom fruit or vegetable should we bring to Staub. We wanted something that could compliment the pumpkin for the collector. We scoured farmer's markets to find our muse, and after much looking we landed on the Brandywine Tomato. The Brandywine is an heirloom cultivar which bears large beautiful tomatoes that are popularly considered among the very best tasting. The Staub cocotte is unsurpassed for slow-cooking meats and vegetables to tender perfection, and for simmering hearty stews and soups. Cast iron possesses exceptional heat-retaining qualities, so the pot heats evenly throughout. This pot also makes a handsome serving vessel at the table.

Beautiful, just beautiful!!!
Got this piece in grenadine for Christmas from my wonderful husband and just love it. My go to for smaller casseroles and meatloaf. Staub is a dream come true for anyone who loves cast iron cooking, but not the hassle of cast iron. Too beautiful to put away, leave it out for all to enjoy.
10" x 8" across the top. 3.75 deep. 6" x 4.5 inside bottom. 12" x 8" x 7.75" with handles and lid.

Masterful combination of form and function
I absolutely love my 3-quart cast iron tomato. It is truly a functional piece of art work that I may or may not use in my cooking...it doesn't matter to me, it is absolutely beautiful. I have several pieces from Staub and love the fact that they emphasize not just good cookware, but also cookware that is pleasing to the eye with such a high level of craftsmanship. I bought one tomato as a house-warming present and the other looks beautiful on my stove top. Waiting with bated breath for their next creation...

cherry tomato salsa dish
I bought the grenadine tomato a year ago and have used it too many times to count! When I saw it in cherry on sale, I just about fell over in love with this beauty! I love the matte silver tone to the handle, the grenadine has gold, and the bright clear color in red is perfect for my spring table display. Now I have a spring summer tomato, (cherry) that I use for roasted tomatoes or chilled for salsa, and the deep grenadine that is perfect for warm tomato soup or chilled gazpacho! hot or cold, spring or fall, cherry or grenadine, am all covered... but still open to other colors!

Love
I bought the cherry tomato 2 years ago and have used it too many times to count! When I saw it in grenadine, I just about fell over in love with this beauty! I love the gold tone to the handle, the cherry has silver, and the rich majolique color in the darker red is perfect for my fall table display. Now I and a spring summer tomato, (cherry) that I use for roasted tomatoes or chilled for salsa, and the deep grenadine that is perfect for warm tomato soup or chilled gazpacho! hot or cold, spring or fall, cherry or grenadine, am all covered... but still open to other colors!

A Statement Piece
The Staub tomato is made exactly like all of the other cast iron. It's enameled outside to be extemely chip resistant and beautiful. The color is so vibrant. The inside is enameled also which makes it stain and chip resistant, browns beautifully and is super easy to clean. Just like all other Staub too, it can go in the oven to 500 degrees.
The shape is just like a beautiful, heirloom tomato with a lovely stainless stem for a handle. You could leave it on your stove or table for display, but why limit it. It's a work horse piece, perfect for side dishes, roasts or bread.

Beautiful in Black too!
I love this tomato cocotte! Staub comes in variety of colors and black is just as beautiful as the red. It is perfect for for a housewarming gift idea! and also perfect for a Golden birthday surprise! It is one great thing to have in my home. Cast iron are the best to cook your daily dish, it is decorative and it is glass enameled cast iron interior for easy daily usage. It is extremely resistant, suitable for all stove tops including induction. Though dishwasher safe except products with wood handles, handwashing by hand is recommended.

Decorative & Functional
Nothing says summer than a ripe red tomato, and this pot brings that spirit into every kitchen, year round. Tomato soup is the first thing everyone cooks in this pot. But nothing like serving a Sunday spaghetti sauce (or gravy) in it too! Try a ratatouille or a oxtail soup. Old world, home-style recipes seem especially suited for this pot, making this the pot in which family traditions carry on.
Cooks evenly and consistently. Made for any/every cook top and the oven.

I just got my tomato cocotte and baked a chicken at 425 for 30 minutes and reduced temp to 375 for 1 1/2 hours. Is it my imagination or could the red color finish have gotten a bit darker? Is it possible?
I experience the same thing with mine when baking bread in it at much higher temperatures. It always goes back to the "lighter/brighter" red.
