If you ever cook fora crowd, this is your wok.
All the great features, just sized up to handle volume when you need it.The construction and thoughtfulness in Staub woks is unquestioned. The wide sloping sides where you can posit some ingredients while you cook others is quintessential. The lid is a must have, it allows the few minutes of steaming that gets vegetables crisp tender, and the long minutes of simmering that gets meats braised through. The stainless steel draining rack makes blanching and deep frying so much easier. Finally, the two handles on either side, and the beautiful enamel finish, even this clean matte black, makes it convenient to bring right to the table for everyone to share. Well done!

Not just a wok
It is the perfect wok because cast iron can get smoking hot, essential when making a stir fry. The sides are curved and tall so it's simple to push food away from the center during the cooking process. The enameled interior browns perfectly but also releases very similar to non stick. Unlike untreated cast iron, it does not have to be seasoned.
It is also awesome for frying, whether its shrimp, small pieces of chicken or doughnuts. The handle grill on top gives you the perfect spot to place freshly cooked items while you finish cooking everything.

great wok
This wok is great. The cast iron hold temperature very well whick makes it great for any cooking style even frying. The rack hold fried foods to drip and not become soggy before serving. The enamel coating makes it easy to use and maintain. There is no seasoning required and you can use soap to clean it. The matte texture allows oil to get under food to provide even browning, great sears and easy release. The tight fitting lid holds in moisture giving perfect textured foods. I like this larger size as opposed to the perfect pan.

Not just a wok.
I was torn between this 6 qt wok and the 4.5 quart wok. I'm glad I decided on this one. The extra space is great. It's much more versatile than a wok. You can fry, braise, saute... The glass lis is nice to see what's going on inside and also allows the entire piece to be lighter than if it were a cast iron lid. Great pot for family meals.

Perfect wok!
Heats quickly and stays hot during the frying process without cooling down when new items are added. Creates a wonderful fondant on the bottom to help make a rich sauce at the end. Meat gets evenly browned and veggies get crispy.
Also can be used as a deep fryer for doughnuts, breaded chicken and pork pieces or wontons.

I make stir-frys and ramen dishes on the regular and use this pan for those dishes and others. It is particulary suited to stir-frys due to the cast iron and the shape of the pan. The bottom conducts the heat and the stream rises up the sides, so when you are stir-frying, you are moving the food constantly around the pan, from the bottom to the sides. Food cooks quickly and evenly. This pan is versatile and can be used for other dishes as well; only limited by your own imagination.

Versatile Pan
This wok is such a great size and I use it for so many things beyond stir fry. Stir fry is the obvious but the size and shape of this pan is great for taco meat, steaming veggies, sauteing and even deep frying (I just made crispy chicken nuggets using this as my fryer). Like all Staub one of the best features is the matte black interior coating that provides a surface that is superior for browning and easy clean up and doesn't need to be seasoned like untreated cast iron.

Will the lid from this wok fit either the 13" or 15" double handled paella pans? If not, do you have a lid that will fit either of those pans?
This lid is the largest we make for our Staub cookware at 12".

Can I use a stainless steel wok spatula on this? Will it scratch the wok?
You can use metal utensils, but we recommend wooden and silicone cooking tools to prolong the lifespan of your cookware.

Is the exterior of the staub 6 qt wok in matte black a baked enamel too??? I need to know it is easy to clean and doesn't rust.
The exterior is black matte enamel like the inside, but the bottom is smooth so that the wok does not scratch glass cooktops. This product is exceptionally easy to clean and will not rust if cared for properly.

I have a stab wok with non stick interior. The inside area is a bit sticky. How do I clean the inside and keep it non stick?
The enamel on the cooking surface of Staub Cast Iron is not non-stick. It is specially formulated with a specific texture to promote browning, though it is not intended to be non-stick. When cooking with Staub Cast Iron, you will need to use oil or butter.
The enamel can be cleaned with soap and hot water. Tough stains can be removed by boiling baking soda and water, or by using Bar Keepers Friend.

Hello Friends at Staub, The image shows a glass lid. The description describes the lid with self basting spikes. Which is it? I own many of your products and fine they work BEAUTIFULLY!! You're products are the BEST!
