stunning and so smart!
I was looking at this Modernist set many times. it was beautiful but I just couldn't justify it because my knives worked perfectly fine, just not as lovely to look at or hold! When I saw that they made it with a self sharpening block the decision was made. This allowed me to get the knives I have always wanted but now they were upgraded! the self sharpener is awesome, I don't have to drop my knives off to my butcher just when I need the to be sharp the most. Its a perfect assortment of kitchen knives and We were blessed to get 6 amazing steak knives too. My old ones barely had an edge left. This was my favorite purchase of the year!

what i have been looking for
This set has everything ive been looking for. First they are quality blades from Henckels. I love the feel and the design. They look and very nice on my counter. Second they are very comfortable so they are a joy to use.This is truly a full set even including the steak knives that look great on my table as well as in the block. The self sharpening block is a big plus. I have always struggled to keep my knives sharp and this set takes care of it for me. A great product.

Great Set Design
This is a very modern take on a knife block set. The contrast between the silver knives and the dark wood block looks great in my kitchen, and I appreciate the way the handles are two different colors. Being able to make sure that the knives are always as sharp as they can be is a huge advantage. I like that each slot is labeled for the specific knife that goes into it.

Great Value
I just received my new knife set, the knifes are heavy enough and have a great feel and are very sharp...my only complaint is that two of the smaller knifes don't sit right in the block. I'll be contacting customer service to see if anything can be done about it. Overall I really like them and think they will work great!

They had me at “self-sharpening.”
I am crazy about this knife set for a bunch of reasons. One, it’s as good-looking as I hoped, based on the pictures. Two, the knives are SO sharp, and I believe they’ll stay that way thanks to the self sharpening block. Three, I won back a bunch of drawer space in my kitchen, by getting rid of most of my huge mish-mash collection of knives. I could goon and on, but I think you get the idea. Highly recommend!

What a lovely set
This block set is so beautiful. I love the color of the wood block and appreciate that each slot is specified for a certain knife. I never have to worry about getting the blades professionally sharpened either because this block takes care of that, without over sharpening. These knives are so low maintenance and are perfectly weighted and ultra comfortable while looking great!

Everyone should own this!
I never knew Self-Sharpening blocks existed. Why the heck doesn't every block do this? As long as you read the directions for maintenance and care, it's easy to keep sharp.

May it last a lifetime!
Received these as a gift, which I was skeptical about because there are plenty of “pretenders” in the knife market, but luckily the person who bought these for me did their research. We love the balance and weight of all the knives. It’s seems rare that you can find a knife set with matching steak knives if same quality and design. These are absolutely perfect. I was also skeptical about the sharpening feature but have come to appreciate it and can certainly notice the difference. Feels like these could last a lifetime and it seems worthwhile to take the effort to wash by hand.

Oddly I see nothing in the description or specifications on handle construction. Also due to the construction of the handle you can't tell for certain either. Can you tell me if these knives are full tang or not?
