Description
This 5.5-inch serrated prep knife is a reliable, all-around knife, perfect for all kitchen tasks. The serrated edge makes it ideal for cutting through hard exterior, soft interior foods such as bread and salami.
ZWILLING Pro boasts a unique curved bolster that acts as an extension of the hand, supporting the professional pinch grip, with thumb and index finger on the blade, for safe cutting and less fatigue. The blade was designed with a broad curve in the front to facilitate the rocking motion of Western cutting, while the straight back is ideal for the chopping motion Japanese knives were designed for. The full length of the blade can be used when cutting and can be sharpened from bolster to tip.
Curved bolster acts as an extension of the hand, encouraging cutting with improved precision, safety, and comfort
SIGMAFORGE knife is forged from a single piece of special formula high-carbon stainless steel
ZWILLING Pro is our most chef-friendly knife on the market. These versatile knives were designed to support the professional pinch grip for safe and controlled use.

Sleek, slender and sharp! The quality of this knife is unquestionable. It is part of the Pro line, one of Zwilling's best. The steel will hold up for a lifetime and the knife requires little maintenance, just an annual sharpening and a weekly honing (see the 2-stage sharpeners if you are timid about honing). It has an angled bolster, a new design features that matches the grip of professional chef's. It keeps the thumb and forefinger in the correct position for maximum control. The handle is a little on the slender side. Good for light touch.
This prep knife lives up to all expectations. It is very sharp, nothing slows this blade down. Excellent for slicing tomatoes, peaches, pears, baguettes, meats and cheese. At least!

So, my family I were browsing through the store one day, and came across this serrated 5.5” prep knife (didn’t even know ZWILLING made a serrated version, as we already have the non-serrated on and love it!). I was skeptical after my daughters convinced me they wanted it. But like the non-serrated prep knife (who must be jealous now), this has great versatility and handles easily, the way it can cut through a tomato or any delicate fruit or veggie, without squashing it, is incredible. Now when my girls are helping in the kitchen, they take turns using either of prep knives.

Great serrated prepI gave this knife as a gift to a family member and they love it. The serrated blade is just big enough to cut large produce like oranges and limes to small bread rolls and meat like hotdogs, sausage, etc.. It’s great for cutting anything that doesn’t necessarily need to be cut with a larger blade, like a Chef or bread knife, but it's still large enough to be used on a cutting board. The bolster is really great to help grip the knife with ease, and it’s a knife you didn’t know you needed until you use it.

Love this knifeBeen want to get a Zwilling knife for about 5 year but with life it been on the back burner. This memorial Day I happened by a Zwilling store by San Diego, decided to get one finely. Got the Zwilling Pro 5.5” serrated prep knife. It’s been two months and the only knife I have used, since I got it home. I cook for two people so meal are not that big but this knifes handled everything, veggies/cheese/meats. Works like a charm, cleans quick and easy. Loving this knife.

Maintenance FreeThis prep knife is perfect for all of those in-between tasks such as cutting up small fruits and vegetables,or slicing meats and cheeses. The awesome Pro design with the curved bolster lets you use the full blade, helps you hold the knife correctly, plus it has the perfect weight and balance. The blade has a unique scalloped serration that feels like you're cutting with a fine edge knife, without every having to hone or sharpen.

My new favThis is a great knife. So many serrated knives have straight handles, but the offset handle on this one make it so much more versatile. The curved bolster makes it a dream to hold. The serrated blade makes quick work of my tomatoes, citrus fruit and bagels. The unique serration shape stays super sharp with only the longer teeth coming in contact with the board. The forged German steel and construction are a true sign of quality.

This knife is a LeftyVery sharp knife, but also disappointing. Slices very well, but it is only beveled on the right side so it migrates to the left as I am slicing down. I think someone erred on the design. Maybe that is why it was on sale. I have other Zwilling knives and rate the others as 5 Star.

A serrated prep knife is such a useful tool. Always razor sharp it's big enough to handle cutting and trimming meat and large vegetables like onions and squash but small enough to feel comfortable on all sized vegetables and citrus. It is always razor sharp and maintenance free. The curved bolster, like all Pro knives, has the most comfortable pinch grip for no cutting fatigue.
Is this knife suitable for trimming fat or gristle off of steaks etc? I have a zwilling pro and it does not work well for this, so I’m trying to find a better knife for trimming

Can this knife be sharpened?
Asked by: shellyb
No. We do not recommend sharpening serrated knives as it can destroy the teeth on the blade.

How would one compare this with the other serrated knife Zwilling J.A. Henckels Pro Utility Knife, 5" (besides the length) ? Is one's serration better adapted for tomatoes, bread and soft cheese cutting ? Thank you

The new serration pattern and the knife shape make this one a real all around superstar. I use it to slice EVERYTING except large stuff like Watermelon or carving a Turkey. No kidding. It is that good and still scary sharp.
