Regarding person who thought this "hurt her hand" - I have a Shun nakiri, this one, and a Chinese carbon steel one from my mother. I thought the rounded Shun handle would be more comfortable, but the Zwilling handle is actually more to my liking. Also, the Shun has more "heft" but I like the Zwilling better. Finally, both the Shun and Zwilling (and many knives today, I've noted) are sharp on the back of the blade, so if you switch to style of cutting where you grab the blade itself, it does get uncomfortable. I've taken a fine sanding disk to both sides of the top back edge of the blade and that's solved it. And what a deal!

Good knife/priceBought a blemished knife at awesome price. Only thing wrong was two horizontal scrapes about 3/4" above edge that are superficial in appearance. Scrapes are not very deep and possibly could be from knife jumping up during sharpening process. Used several times so far and have enjoyed it. Made quick work of cherry tomatoes, grapes, larger tomatoes, and large squash. Incredibly sharp and get consistent cuts so far. Only downside so far is dense vegetables sticking to blade due to lack of any dimples on blade. Love the price and quality for blemished blade but would consider a hammer finished or dimpled blade for an extra $30 or so if buying full priced nakiri.

Zwilling Gourmet 6.5" Nakiri KnifeThis is a very well built knife and I should know being a knife collector for over 50 years. The construction of this knife is of the very best materials. I love slicing and dicing with this knife which is what this knife was constructed to do. It is money well spent. I am sure it will be passed down for generations. This knife was built to last! Just make sure that you hand wash only. This great gourmet knife was not intended to be placed in to the dishwasher. I highly recommend this knife for serious chefs or any person who appreciates quality kitchen cutlery! Enjoy :-)

Good Knife, Poor ShippingA very nice knife! Nice balance and handling. Very sharp.
I will have to say, I was disappointed in the shipping. The knife was sent in a long red box. That box was tossed into a longer box about eight times the size of the red box, with no packing material. The shipping box looked if it had been stepped on, which resulted in the red box being damaged and opened. Knife, instructions, card all loose in the large shipping box. If the knife wasn't such good quality, it could have been damage.
A little tape on the red box and some cheap shipping filler material could have prevented everything rattling around during shipping!
Note: Knife was purchased through Bespoke Post website.

Nice alternative to my chef's knifeI've have the nakiri for a couple of days now. I own the twin gourmet 8" chef's knife, and a Victorinox 8-inch chef's knife too.
This knife is crazy Sharp. It's life's the block of pecorino Romano cheese fairly easily. I used it on an assortment of vegetables. I really like the knife. I also like how the blade has a lot of areas so I can scoop up what I just chopped easily, sort of like using a dough scraper.
Like I said, I've only had the knife a few days. I don't find it uncomfortable to use. I generally use the pinch grip. And have had no issues thus far.

Effortless!I needed a back up to my 40 year old Caddie 6” knife decided to try Zwilling J.A. Henckels 6” knife. I received my knife yesterday and used it for the first time this morning. It feels good to hold, balanced weight, sturdy and cutting performance effortless. As vegans, our meal preparations consist of a lot of cutting and chopping having the right tool shortens my prep time and effort. As a first time user of a Zwilling J.A. Henckels knife my expectations, so far, have been met!

You will never need another knifeI was being evacuated from a fire in my area and besides my clothes and personal daily items, for some reason I grabbed the Zwilling Knife I had just received and hadn't used yet. I stayed with friends and when their knives were dull and not getting the job done I remembered I had my knife, so i told them to wait and grabbed it from my car. To all of our amazement, it was so incredible and now they want one as well! I can tell you how excited I am to cook with such an excellent quality knife! Kudos to you all, I'll never leave home without it again!!!

Disappointed in the feel and edge. The tang edges are squarely ground and protrude slightly past the handle material. This is not a comfortable knife to handle. The grind of the blade is uneven from end to end and side to side. It is by most standards not sharp. The steel is a mystery. High carbon stainless means nothing to me.
With a few hours on a stone and strop its edge could be corrected. A careful and good sanding of the tang and handle would correct the uncomfortable feel.
For the price it is an ok knife. But one can do better with other knives of equal cost.
There are two questions below regarding the sharpening angle and Zwilling has provided different answers ( sharpen at 10 degrees AND sharpen at 15 degrees). Please, which is the correct angle ( I have your Asian/Standard sharpener? Thanks!
Asked by: TC Fraz

I LOVE this knife - and I am a chef knife addict....Just wanted to see which is best - use the Asian or Euro/American slot when sharpening with ChefsChoice 4643
Asked by: Reggie
While we're not sure about the angles for that particular sharpener, this blade should be sharpened to 15° per side.
