As perfect as the 8" but a pinch smaller
This has become my "other" favorite knife since purchasing a year ago. My favorite is the 8" version. The price was so fair that I had to have it. The 7" blade opens up versatile uses such as paring with the heel of the blade near the bolster and mincing shallots and garlic with the tip since the shorter blade is easy to control. if you don't have a lot of room to prep food but still want a full and solid chef knife, this is perfect. The handle is very comfortable to hold on to for hours on end. I hope that this 40 year Anniversary knife with its amazing price will encourage cooks to try out a great product.

34 years and still going!
I bought this knife after starting my first job out of college. My friends and family thought I was crazy. I also bought a 4" pairing knife and a steel. To this day, both the 10" is my #1 trusted knife. It cuts, slices, crushes - it is an extension of my right hand in the kitchen. I have 13 Henckels knives, including 3 Miyabi (a Birchwood, a Morimoto and a Kaizen), 3 Mikado, one Pro "S" and two "cheap" Henckels. My four-star knives are my favorites and my three work horses: the 10" Chef's, 6" utility, and 4" paring. If you want a knife that will never let you down, get this one!

A knife of many years
My family has been using this knife (an older version) for decades. It finally broke under heat and duress, and my mother bought the upgraded version (Four Star II). When I moved out on my own, I bought this version because 1) I knew it would last me years 2) doesn’t need frequent sharpening and 3) liked the feel of this one in my hand. When sharpened, it cuts precisely and beautifully. The Zwilling store associates were more than helpful and accommodating, and they allowed me to test many knives before I chose this one. I was willing to invest my time and money knowing from personal experience that a Zwilling knife would last me many years.

The workhorse of all knife tasks
This has been my favorite knife for decades. I used to baby it and keep it for home use only but recently have been using it daily at work. Zwilling boasts that the knife has been made exactly the same from day one in the 70's as it is now. This is the most durable knife that I have ever used and owned. The blade is tapered to a whisper thin bevel and stays sharp as it is easy to hone and sharpen when needed. If you require a solid and nearly maintenance free knife I highly recommend Four Star knives.

The best knife I have ever used in my life
I grew up in a Caribbean household so since a young age I’ve always been tasked with preparing the ingredients for a lot of our family meals. My mom is frugal,So she would never spend more than 20 on a knife. This knife is amazing. The moment I picked it up I felt a difference. It has a little bit of weight to it, nice grip and sharp. Cutting vegetables and meat is so smooth and easy to do now. It will barely feel like you are doing any work. I bought this on sales at Macy. This is hand down one of the best kitchen purchases I have made. Even if you can’t get it on sale it’s so worth it to get full price too.

Just Right
This knife is exactly what I was looking for! The Four Star line of knives is made in Germany and is made with the Zwilling Special Formula steel which is guaranteed for life, easy to sharpen and holds an edge for a very long time. Sharper than some of the other German knives on the market with a 15 degree angle instead of the the traditional 20 degree.
Very well balanced and is so comforta I can finally do some serious chopping without having to take long breaks between jobs.
Bought one as a gift for my daughter and she is just as pleased with it. Guess I'll have to by another one for my other daughter!

Supremely sharp
My Son bought this for me several years ago for my birthday. I've had an original set of Chicago Cutlery knives that I purchased in 1978, that I still use daily (I love to cook). The J.A. Henkle knife is much superior and I've kept it reserved for special use like slicing fresh tomatoes...wish I could an entire set!! Superior in every way to all the other knives I've ever owned!

Chef's favorite!
A Four Star knife is so comfortable despite of its size. A 10" chef is perfect one big knife, will cut large food with control that is ergonomic.
Comfortable, balanced size will quickly become the go-to knife for everyday tasks. This knife will cut large chunk of meat, and even vegetables. A delicate big piece of fruits like Cantaloupe or watermelon will be manageable for this knife.
It's the most easiest to sharpen for its special formula high carbon stainless steel, easy to sharpened either stone or machine.

Hello, I ordered this knife (8” chef) and no matter how I sharpen it the edge has very small chips and burrs on it. I can’t get a smooth edge even using an 800 grit stone. It looks like the metal is just flaking and chipping. What can I do? Warranty?
