This 12-piece knife block set is stocked with all the tools you need to easily tackle your kitchen tasks. The Four Star line of Zwilling knives celebrated it's 40th anniversary a few years ago. At that time I was able to purchase a 7" Chef's knife at a fabulous price, so I decided to give the line a chance.
Finally had an opportunity to purchase a block set and decided on this one. I already knew how much I liked my Four Star 7 inch knife. Zwilling special formula steel is sharp, and durable. The molded handle is extremely hygienic, and is also dishwasher safe. Zwilling is a leading global cutlery company, offering customer support if needed.
Purchasing this set gives me the assortment I was looking for, at a price much more economical then if the pieces were purchased by themselves.

Great value for a quality set. We
This is the first set of high-quality kitchen cutlery we have purchased and we are very pleased with the value when compared to similar quality sets made by other companies. The knives came very sharp and are easy to keep maintained. The only thing I’m not thrilled with is that this set doesn’t appear to be full-tang, but something has to be compromised to keep the cost affordable. The one benefit to not having a full-tang is that they are very lightweight knives. Unless you’re someone who is a professional cook/chef or abused your kitchen knives, I don’t think it’s a big deal.

Just one complaint
For a $1000 block set, $500 on sale. I would expect better packaging. The box it comes in is just a normal thin cardboard box with a bunch of words and giant text, similar to any cheap knife block you'd get at a department store. I was hoping to get premium boxes for premium knives. Something to feel like I received something luxurious for paying so much. Hence, one star down.
Other than that, the knives are crafted very well. Have yet to use them but i would hope they would last a long time based on other reviews and it's reputation.

Prefect set for my small kitchen
I am so happy that I found a knife set that was perfect for all my needs! I don't have a ton of drawer space, so having the knife block sit on my counter is great. I also don't have a ton of space in my apartment, so the biggest dinner party I would have is 4, so having 4 steak knives is just the right amount for me. I love that there is space in the knife block for the steak knives so I can store all my knives in the same place. The "Four Star" line is very comfortable to use and I love the classic design.

complete set
I really like this set. It has everything I need from prep all the way up to slicing knives. The Four Star design has a great forged German steel blade. The blade is very sharp and easy to maintain. The handle material is very comfortable to hold and the texture gives me confidence in my grip. I love that the steak knives are straight bladed so they can be resharpened. They are basically smaller versions of the boning knife. They actually cut my food rather than tear it.......such a difference.

Four Star Comfort
The Four Star series is popular for so many reasons but one of my favorites is the handle. It is comfortable and nonslip. Because they are forged from specially formulated steel they are corrosion resistant and have a strong bolster. Of course they are super sharp and remain that way use after use only needing to be sharpened once a year. This set includes several of the most popular knife profiles and four steak knives so it's a great choice.

Such an amazing knife set
This is my second knife set from Zwilling. The first knife set was of such great quality that I couldn't imagine going with any other brand to replace them. The block is nice and heavy. The stain on the block looks amazing in my kitchen. These knives are well balanced and satisfy my needs as an after work home chef for my family. When my daughters have moved out and continued on their own path, they will certainly be sent with a set of their own.

Set says 13 piece but the description and picture only show 12 pieces. Is something missing in the description or is the set only 12 pieces.

What are the measurements of the knife block? Looking for something with a smaller footprint? Are there any open slots remaining in the block, perhaps for a Santoku?
Dimensions for the block alone are not available. Assembled, the set is 16.75" tall x 9.75" deep x 5.5" wide. There are 14 slots in the block, so there will be empty slots which may fit a Santoku knife.

I have this set, but there are 3 slots that are empty. I wanted to know what knives are needed to complete the set.
Some sets include empty slots so you may arrange the knives how you like and add to your collection over time. You should add those knives which would be most useful in your kitchen.
