Rated 5 out of 5 by from You will not store this little guy! I agonized between the dark navy blue and the Graphite (to match my 5.5qt Cocotte), only because dark navy blue is my favorite color. I did finally go with the Graphite so that my Cocotte had a matching friend. This is the best petite French oven that you can get and you will find yourself using it for everything. I've made steel cut oats, wheat berries, rice, sauces, soups, pasta, everything in this adorable little French oven. It is petite at 1 3/4qt, but it is deep so that you can fit a lot and easily stir what you are cooking or reheating. I find myself reaching for my petite oven more than I expected, it has become my favorite cookware to use. Also, it is super easy to clean with soap and water at the sink. You will use this over and over throughout the week!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handy I got this beautiful little pot last fall and love using it for baked or black beans, sauces, rice, quinoa or other little side dishes but it also came in handy when I was making a big pot of chili for family and when I found out my nephew's fiance is vegetarian I was able to make her a personal pot of vegetarian chili...it was perfect on the stove next to the bigger meat version! Like all Staub you'll enjoy the easy clean up of the matte black interior which needs no seasoning.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from minor detail I love staub. I have a 4 qt cocotte and have been using it weekly since i purchased it. I bought this one to make smaller portions and because it is aesthetically pleasing. I took off a couple of stars because there are a lot white paint speckles on the inside and a couple of yellow/rust-colored stains on the bottom. Because it is white, I think these 'imperfections' were more pronounced. I am happy with the quality (other than cosmetic) of this and I foresee myself using this often as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cooks like a charm! I love this little pot. I've had it a week and have used it for rice, hot cereal, a can of soup, left overs and gravy. Perfect for one or two servings of whatever. A light coat of oil or butter, heat on medium low heat 5 to 10 minutes and add food. No need to use more than medium heat unless you are bringing something up to boiling. Cleans up the same as glass or ceramic and if there is a food shadow it will come right out with a tiny bit of BarKeepers Friend cleanser (use only on the interior). Since discovering Staub 2 years ago I have replaced all my stainless steel cookware, except for my sauce pans with Staub. Just ordered the 7 quart round cocotte in grenadine and can't wait to get it. Staub is my go to gift for family and friends with no complaints so far, just requests for more. Oh, did I mention just how beautiful it is? Too pretty to put away. Grenadine is my color of choice and displayed in my kitchen. Since I can only afford the sale prices, I buy other colors when the prices are too good to pass up, they are all gorgeous. And no, I am not affiliated with the company in any way, just an avid fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect rice every time! The cast iron really holds on to the moisture and heat and the results are perfect. Looks much nicer than my electric rice cooker, and I love using it as a serving piece that really holds on to the heat. Grains also benefit from the cast iron. Easy to use, just bring the liquid to a boil, add the grains, stir, cover cook on lowest of heat setting and wait a short time, fast and easy. Induction compatible and oven safe to 500 degrees, allows for flexibility as well as multiple uses. Great kitchen helper.

I didn't buy a defective damaged product, but a normal discount product, but a defective pot came and I got an exchange, but a pot with a more severe defect came. I'm really disappointed. I'm using it because I'm lazy to get an exchange, but I'm really upset It would be better to just buy defective products from the beginning. Whatever you order, defective products come. I want to show you the picture of its defection.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sturdy product but knob RUSTS! Despite that Staub is known for the beauty and quality of their products, this product has a couple of cons. First, it's a beautifully made pot, very sturdy, and the style of the lid does indeed allow moisture to drip back to the pot. However, the handles are very small and gets hot once you take it off the stove. It's hard to grab the handles to pour out the boiled water or hot liquid. Also, my biggest complaint is I got the one with the stainless steel knob and it RUSTS after 2 months of use (see picture)! I've only handwashed it with a soft sponge and always lay it on the drying mat to fully dry before storing it. Paid full price and I expected better from a brand to claim that their products are one of the best. You might think that the rust is only on the underside of the knob and no one will see it, but the rust actually SPREADS all the way down the knob and onto the enamel coating of the lid which is how I noticed it and unscrewed the knob to discover what was underneath the knob. The picture shows the rust only after I soaked it in vinegar for a day so it's actually worse than what the picture shows. Staub probably knows this occurs which is why they sell the knobs separately and make you spend more on their already expensive products.

What is the best method for achieving perfect basmati rice in this pot?  I have tried a few methods and have not quite mastered it yet. I have the larger one and usually do 1.5 cups uncooked rice.  Thanks!
