It’s been in the pan rotation in my kitchen every day since it arrived, including for three dishes for Thanksgiving. I’ve used it in the oven and on the stovetop to make shakshuka, (best ever) grilled cheese, roasted chicken breasts, stir fry, seared salmon, balsamic caramelized onions, fried liver, crispy potatoes, and lots more. It lives on my stovetop! After using, I wash it gently with a dishcloth and regular dish soap, dry it with a kitchen towel, and then smear a couple drops of oil into the inside surface to keep the enamel conditioned. Still looks and works like new. Definitely my favorite pan.

Perfect to roast chicken and vegetables, meats, stews, and casseroles. Also a great Paella pan, which I make weekly. The cast iron interior makes for a real crispy bottom, which we all fight over. This pan can be used on my induction cook top, as well as inside the oven. Have also used this as a deep fryer which works out great because I don't have room for tons of different pans and appliances. in the kitchen. Works as a beautiful serving piece, which not only saves more space, but also makes less clean up. This pan checks all the boxes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enamored with cast iron braiser I actually had a le creuset braiser on my wedding registry, but removed it after I had the opportunity to get this braiser from Staub. I love the fun turquoise color and how the pan has a wide, flat surface with sides that go straight up- it gives me a lot of surface area to work with for browning and searing. The glass lid is great because it allows me to see how everything looks inside, and the 3.5 quart capacity I perfect for our smaller household while not being too small. The cast iron is enameled on the inside, which helps with food sticking though this isn’t a true nonstick item. Overall, it’s a great addition to my kitchen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Work Of Art What a beautiful work of art. The glass lid with brass knob is a gorgeous combo with the grey enamel cast iron braiser. The 3.5qt size is perfect size and large enough to cook steaks and anything you want for 4 servings. Manual recommends pre-heating at low temp for 5 mins before increase to your desire temp (max temp) on stove, grill stop, etc. Very sturdy piece of cookware. Got this for almost 50% off so it is completely worth it. For full retail price although completely worth it. I would wait for some sort of discount. Having said that, this is an heirloom piece so you can definitely pass it down generations to generations.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I was disappointed in the overall quality control of this product. There were obvious defects in the pan. Like a knife slice along the side and a dot of white enamel right smack in the center of the black pan. It’s glazed into the pan. No chance I’ll be able to remove it. Considering the cost of these pans and Dutch ovens I do expect to receive a quality item. This didn’t meet my expectations of quality craftsmanship. It looked more like a rush job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Pan for Everyday This is my go-to pan for all of those one pot meals. The black enameling browns meat and sautes vegetables perfectly. The cast iron heats evenly and maintains that heat, no hot or cold spots causing foods to stick. The glass lid is perfect to keep an eye on this evenings dinner without disrupting the cooking process. The smooth bottom does not scratch my glass cooktop. I have the grenadine which is such a stunning color! It blends beautifully with any table setting. I also have the wooden magnetic trivet which is perfect for taking this pan directly to the table.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I want to braise everything now! I have always admired the Staub pots and pans from afar as I wasn’t ready to spend that kind of money on them. But now that we are locked down, I’ve been watching a lot of cooking shows and videos and see it everywhere! I couldn’t ignore it anymore and splurged on this braiser and the 5.75 qt oval cocotte. I will never look back! It has really opened my eyes and now I see what all the fuss is about and totally see the value in them. It has made browning meats a breeze and I have already braised beef short ribs in wine. It’s made cooking fun! Now, I’m a pretty petite person and these guys are HEAVY (which is to be expected) so it will only help build some arm muscles for me lol! I did a ton of research and chose Staub over Le Creuset and highly recommend you do the same.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor customer service and quality of pot surface! I was very excited to get the pot for Father’s Day. But when I opened the pot, the pot black surface has some issue; it has 4 little bums. I filled out the quality issue letter to customer service online, and also took some photos. It sent the auto reply saying they would contact with me within 24-48 hours, but It’s been 2 weeks, nobody contact with me or send the reply. I know Staub sells clearance with imperfection products but the pot I purchased was NOT from clearance section. I’m very disappointed of product having little bums / uneven surface issue, and I am more disappointed nobody has replied or contacted with me. I haven’t used the pot yet since I haven’t decided return or keep. I have 2 Staub products and none of them have same issue. It’s just very disappointing.

Is the interior surface coated with enamel, and if so, is there a recommended limit to the temp it can tolerate? Asking because after my second use (I used it to sear on a stove top, then cleaned with soap & sponge) the surface appeared to be raw iron.

Textured black matte enamel interior requires no seasoning and ensures exceptional browning, and heat retention and distribution. Smooth enamel bottom works on all stove tops, including Induction. We suggest cleaning with baking soda and water or non-abrasive cleaner such as Bar Keepers Friend®, water and a soft brush or sponge. While we have no business affiliations with the Bar Keepers Friend company, we found that it works wonderfully on our enameled Cast Iron (please google their site for use & care instructions). Sometimes, a good scrub is necessary after cooking foods high in fat, tomato sauce or anything acidic.

My braiser has a hard black crust on the sides that I cannot remove. I’ve tried baking soda paste, boiling sudsy water, power washing, soaking with ammonia—nothing removes this crust. But sharp bits can flake off. The enamel is intact. Any ideas?
