The well thought-out design of the poultry shears starts with the ergonomic handle, which allows you to safely use the shears without tiring your hand. The serration prevents the food from slipping, which makes work even easier. The shears are forged from special stainless steel and are especially sharp. Easy to use and clean
I consider myself a novice in the kitchen, but my family loves chicken. So I splurged on these poultry shears. I was frustrated with normal kitchen shears from a basic knife set from target, walmart, etc. I love the weight of these, the design and feel, and how easy they are to use then clean. In the store I thought they felt a little weird, but I got used to them the first use. I'm using these weekly with bulk chicken cleaning, portioning, and freezing for my family and this has been a great tool.

Terrible
I really wanted to love these shears, however, they are flawed in too many ways. Previously, I wrote a review going over the design issues with these including the fact that they easily spring open to a point where the two halves separate and how the screw that hold the halves together comes loose. Well, I decided to give them another try, however after one or two cuts the spring was not working. I looked closer to find that the metal ridge where the spring engages and broken off. I am guessing this has to do with the shears being made of hard brittle metal and that part being quite fine. I have added a photo with the area where the ridge/flange broke off circled in red. Now I am left with an expensive piece of scrap metal. I am back to using my old $30 shears that I was hoping to replace. I would not recommend these shears to anyone.

This is my fourth try at a review.
The first two sets of these rusted.I always hand washed them, now I wipe them down with olive oil. This set, for christmas I spatchcocked a goose. Now number three has bent. I have spent a week trying to get someone in customer service, but they are, as they say ( VERY BUSY ). So much for thinking your buying the best. Bottom line is these things are junk. wes 01-03-2023

All metal, but not finished well.
These shears kept sticking. I had to work them open and closed several hundred times before they became smooth. Also the tolerances on the edges are not that close so they do not work well as scissors (not a deal breaker on a shear). Overall, good shears with the spring mechanism, but not as good as they could be.

Disappointing
It appears to be a well made product. The problem is that it does not work well for the purpose I bought it for. I meant to cut with it roasted poultry. I used it first time with roasted chicken - while it cut well through the skin and meat it was nearly impossible to cut through the bones , you really have to struggle with it.I had no such problem with my old shears.

Almost excellent
Very well made. Sharp blade and good size. There is one big fault. More often than not when I try to cut through a chicken back or bones I end up opening them until the halves separate. When I look at how open they need to be to separate I would not have thought this would happen, but pretty much every time I have used these it happens. At times I feel that the spring is making it more likely to happen. I may remove the spring and see if it still happens. I did see another review where the person was having the same issue.

How do I get a replacement spring for the inside? Mine rusted but the blades are still good. Thanks!

There is a lock mechanism on the side to prevent them from opening.

Will these cut through turkey bones to spatchcock?? And will it work for left handers?

The Poultry Shears are a great tool, for right and left handed people. And are designed to cut the joint areas of the Poultry to section into pieces and are strong enough to cut through small bones. The Poultry shears are not designed to cut through large bones.
