A step Up, Higher Gritstone! This stone is great for maintaining your knives' razor-sharp edge, to a scalpel-like sharpness. As with most stone sharpeners, this does take some practice but can easily become one of your favorite maintenance activities. This is the next level of stone sharpening steppping up from 1000 gritstone to 3000 depending on the preferences and needs. It is advisable to start from a lower grit to sharpen and you finish with the higher grit. I suggest practicing on an inexpensive knife first when you are just getting the feel for stone sharpening. But it is totally worth the time and money for that perfectly clean cut. It just elevates the entire cooking experience. Practice makes it perfect!

A must-have 400 grit! This stone is great for sharpening. For a really thorough sharpening, you need to use stones from low grit and work incrementally up to higher grits in order to produce that perfectly razor-sharp mirror-finished edge. This grit is great for transitioning between a lower grit of say 250 up to 1000, to scalpel-like edge. As with most stone sharpeners, there is a bit of a learning curve but can easily become one of your favorite maintenance activities. I suggest practicing on a cheaper knife first when you are just getting the feel for stone sharpening. However, properly using whetstones is totally worth the time and money for that perfectly clean cut. It just elevates the entire cooking experience.

This is the perfect stone to make the final finshing polishes to your blade. The super fine grit will give you the perfect edge. A little water is all that's required. I expected no less than perfection from Bob Kramer and that's what I got.

Great sharpening stoneI have a lot of really nice knives and wanted to get that factory edge back on them once they went dull. The whetstone set is fantastic. Takes practice, but the results are so much better than using any other sharpening tool. If you have nice knives, Japanese or Western, definitely go the wet stone route for sharpening. The Kramer sink bridge is a great addition to using this whetstone for added security.

Great sharpening stones - all gritsIt's your call. Getting the right combination of stones that makes your sharpening time the most efficient. Kramer stones come in 400, 1000, 3000, 5000 and 10,000 grit. Plus there's a Leather stropping block for the ultimate in polishing. Whichever combination you choose, I recommend at least three stones and the stropping block, you won't be disappointed. Hand sharpening takes some time and patience to get the hang of. But it is sooo worth it. It shows you why you want to hone your knives each time you use them, and sharpen them only when you really need to. And it reminds you why great knives, well maintained are so much more fun to work with. If you love knives, and love cooking, this is the time to jump in.

This 1,000 grit whetstone is a medium grit. You can use oil or water, no need to soak (It’s made from a synthetic material) you can just sprinkle on the oil or water and start sharpening. I would suggest buying a few higher grits on top of this 1,000. The more polished your blade is the less resistance you’ll have when cutting.

The best way to sharpen knives to razor-sharp!This 5000 grit glass water sharpening stone is great for maintaining your knives' razor-sharp edge, to a scalpel-like sharpness. As with most stone sharpeners, this does take some practice but can easily become one of your favorite maintenance activities. This is the next level of stone sharpening steppping up, gradually to start from a lower gritstone and stepping up to 1000 gritstone and either finish to that or with the higher grit such as 3000 or just skip to 5000. Depending on the knife hardness and edge, it is a personal preference and needs to use a variety of gritstone. It is advisable to start from a lower grit to sharpen and you finish with the higher grit. I suggest practicing on an inexpensive knife first when you are just getting the feel for stone sharpening. But it is totally worth the time and money for that perfectly clean cut. It just elevates the entire cooking experience when you have a really sharp knife for every cut. Practice makes it perfect!

10,000 grit is very fine, you can use it as a polishing stone or if you need to make any minor finishing adjustments to your blades. You can use water or oil but you need to stick to one or the other you shouldn’t switch.
For built-up shavings and other debris, we also offer a cleaning stone, here: https://www.zwilling.com/us/zwilling-kramer-acessories-cleaning-stone/34999-300.html
