Additional Information

FOUR STAR is the top-selling knife series of ZWILLING J.A. Henckels worldwide. Honed and hand-finished by the most skilled artisans, this celebrated collection is the model of safety, ergonomics, and comfort. Thanks to their seamless transition from bolster to handle, the knives are comfortable to use for long periods of time. The bolster provides the right balance while acting as a safe finger guard.

The knives are made of proprietary special formula steel that has been perfected for over 280 years. Combined with ZWILLING's signature ice-hardening technique, these FRIODUR blades are harder, sharper, they will NOT STAIN or chip and they retain their sharpness longer. Precision-forged from a single piece of steel, the SIGMAFORGE knives have an exceptionally sturdy, balanced and flexible blade.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Still a fine knife but it has changed. The handle of this knife I just received is lighter than my originals, the plastic differs, it throws the balance off. I have the original set I purchased in the late 1980’s, including one of the two Four Star 5” Serrated Utilities. I’ll be stopping by a cutlery retailer to see if the engineering changed or it is this distributor. It is noticeable without weighing, but I did weigh it to be sure.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It was a good run... I got my first one over 10 yrs. ago after finding out how they were made an was truly impressed with the warranty as well as the product. Soon after I got a butcher block and customize my own set along with a large sharpening steel & 2 types of scissors. One of my saddest days was opening a box after moving into my new apartment and finding one of my favorites, my 5" serrated broken..., it was a good run an I was a little sick until I got it replaced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought a second, used so often. Four Star 5" Serrated is a most utilitarian knife. Feels very comfortable to use - well proportioned handle-to-knife size (I'm 7 women glove size). I use for everything needing serrated edge and other uses including cutting veggies. Wanted second serrated knife so, tried Classic 5" Serrated Knife but returned because handle is way too small to grip and knife is smaller size. Bought a second of the Four Star 5" Serrated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tomato Knife is an outstanding kitchen tool! I bought this knife about twenty years ago, and have loved using it--almost exclusively with tomatoes--all these years. I had a house guest here a little over a month ago who noticed me using the knife and said she wished she had such a good knife. I sent her and her husband one as a gift, and they phoned me to say they used it the day it arrived, and are enjoying it as much as I treasure my own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lost and Found My Knife I had my five inch serrated utility knife (AKA tomato slicer) since my parents gave us a Henkel set back in the 1970s, and was really sad when I took it to a meeting to slice a cake I was sharing and lost it. It is, as others have said, the most useful knife in the set. I was thrilled to be able to find the same knife that matched my old set perfectly! These really are great knives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most used knife in my set I couldn't be without this knife. I use it more than any other in my 6 piece set.

Is there a way to sharpen this knife?

Asked by: Casper
Serrated knives are very difficult to sharpen. We do not make any sharpeners that are capable or sharpening serrated edges. You can check with professional sharpening services, it is rare, but you may be able to find one willing to sharpen a serrated edge (our service is not able to). Essentially, you need to use the appropriate sized file or rod and sharpen each serration individually by hand.
