Each knife features a hand-honed blade finished with a true katana edge, a homage to the samurai swords made in Seki centuries ago.Fabricated with special Cocobolo Rosewood pakkawood, the handles mirror the beauty of the blade. Sophisticated details include brass and red spacers, a mosaic pin and a stainless steel end cap. The attractive D-shaped handle is designed to nestle comfortably in your hand for tireless cutting. Rated 5 out of 5 by from You want a chef knife that that makes you feel like a pro, this is that knife. This was one of my first Japanese knives years ago and I still love it to this day. It is very sharp due to the SG2 super steel and the special ice-hardening process that the super steel goes through. The result is a very sharp knife that will retain its sharpness for a very long time, which means less work for me! The D-shape handle fits snuggly in my hand which gives me control and comfort. Such a beautiful knife that is handcrated in Japan, and will become your pride and joy!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Knife! Beautiful and Sharp. I am no chef but I cook on a daily basis. The Miyabi knife makes cooking a breeze. Using a professional knife makes all the difference in the world. A vast difference from all my old knives. I did extensive research on different knife brands and this one checked all the boxes. The only factor that you have to consider is that Japanese steel is thinner (for sharpness) so you must handle with care. These knives will potentially get chips if you use it to cut bone or tougher fruits like butternut squash. That being said, it glides through foods effortlessly. The handle feels great to hold for all cutting positions and looks beautiful. The craftmanship on my Miyabi knife is amazing and the attention to detail second to none.

I love the look of this knife and how it has certain features that make it a true Japanese knife, like the mirrored finish aspect to the blade and the shape of the handle. I like that it’s a Cocobolo wood, really beautiful look that accents the blade perfectly. This knife cuts through anything with ease and smoothness, clean cuts every time. It has a nice balance to it as well, and contours nicely in your hand. The steel is really solid for a Japanese knife, so I’m not worried about the blade chipping down the road.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love the Miyabi line, but Artisan has to be my absolute favorite. I love everything about this knife and proudly it hangs on the magnetic knife bar in my kitchen. I love the handle, the hammer blade with the traditional sharpness of a Japanese blade. Sometimes I like the smaller chef knife; I feel like I have more control and if working with something on the more difficult side, I like to have that control. The D-shape handle fits comfortably in my hand so I do not get tired when working in the kitchen for longer periods of time.

Though I already had a classic high end Wusthof chefs knife, i have always wanted a Japanese blade. I couldn’t resist the Miyabi Artisan when I had the chance. Immediately out of the box, it cuts sharper than any knife I have ever used. Forget the aesthetics, because it is obviously gorgeous, it is the best blade I have experienced. The ease of dicing is incredible. This will be a knife that I pass to my kids someday.

is the knife easily resharpened

These knives can be resharpened several ways. First, we recommend using a sharpening/honing steel every few times you use the knife. This does not remove any material and safe to do frequently. When the knives do need resharpening, you can use a series of waterstones, though this takes some practice. We do make a Miyabi pull-through sharpener that is designed specifically for these blades, it is perfect for touch ups. If you do not want to sharpen the blade yourself, we offer a sharpening service.

Hello, I purchased my Miyabi 8-inch knife at retail store back in October 2016. Knife shattered at the blade. Retailer only provides a 60 day return/exchange policy. What is the manufacturer warranty and what steps should take to have knife replaced?
