Rated 5 out of 5 by from Uniquely shaped blade I was eyeing this santoku knife for a while. It has a narrower blade than traditional santoku knives. I own several other santoku knives and was very curious about this one. Upon opening it come out razor sharp with a good feel of springy, forged steel. Blade is not very thick and its width makes it very versatile for slicing and mincing small vegetables, herbs, garlic, etc. A separate prize goes to the handle, it is very ergonomic and allows to work with the knife with a great control. However, I got a bit perplexed by the fact that the hollow edge is only on one, left (sic) side, which I found quite counterintuitive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My favorite knife I use a 7-inch santoku almost exclusively. I cut a lot of vegetables and prep a lot of chicken, fish and seafood, and this shape and size handles it all easily. From butternut squash to prawns, I can get almost everything done with this knife. This handsome line of Forged Premio knives is forged from German steel and made to very exacting standards. The fine edge blades made from high quality stainless steel can take and hold an edge ensuring years and years of enjoyable use. Hone them regularly. The full tang blade runs through the integrated bolster and triple riveted handle for maximum stability and durability. Dishwasher safe, but I always hand wash my knives. I like them to look new and dishwashing detergents are very hard on knives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very sharp out the box! I’m a home chef who has been using very basic cutlery available to you. I’ve had a very hard time keeping any of these knives sharp and by knives I mean brands like faberware. What I found is even though it may be kinda sharp on day one they haven’t stood the test of time nor have had the ability to hold an edge after using conventional sharpeners. What cooking turned into was more like a lumber jack competition, sawing and sawing just to cut through chicken skin. I had no idea what I was missing. I purchased the 7” Santoku Knife which was extremely affordable and was immediately amazed by not only the feel of it in my hand but the incredible sharpness out of the package. The fine edge is evident as it sliced through chicken skin like butter with zero pressure from my hand, just the weight of the blade! I then scored the chicken thighs to the bone three times. Each blade stroke was unhindered as it sliced to the bone and one light stroke. I never felt this amount of control and accuracy in a blade before. It’s made kitchen prep feel so much safer as it cuts time in half, amazing! I definitely recommend this product to aspiring home cooks like myself and chefs alike. BBQ is going to be delicious tomorrow, thank you J. A. Henckels International!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Sharp This is my first Asian style knife, and not my last. Love the hollow edge which prevents food from sticking. The angle on this knife is more acute than a traditional chef knife which makes it a lot sharper. The half bolster makes sharpening and honing a breeze, and also allows for a larger cutting surface. It is dishwasher safe which is a definite bonus, and the German steel is stain resistant and extremely durable. The full tang adds weight to the knife which is sometimes absent in a Japanese made Santuko. Has everything I was looking for in my everyday knife!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Every Day, Everything Knife! Our son, Vinnie, moved back in with us, due to the co-vid pandemic. He was a chef in Sacramento and the restaurant closed. He brought his knives along with him back to our Wisconsin home, And I loved using this J.A. Henckels 7"knife! Vinnie has since moved into his own place. When I asked him if he was going to take his knife with him, "Hell, yes!" was his answer. So for Christmas, guess what he gave me? My very own 7" Santoku knife! The best knife from the best son a Mom could ask for!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Realized How Dull My Other Knives Actually Were! The first time I used my new Santoku was to cut my turkey sandwich that was placed on a paper towel. After cutting the sandwich into four triangles, the paper towel beneath had also been beautifully cut! The edges of the sandwich were also crisp, not smooshed as they would be with my other knives. Never before has this happened with my sandwiches, AND I HAVE PREPARED MANY SANDWICHES in my time! Just can't get over how that paper towel had that perfect cut-out after slicing my food....
