The good news: if this is the knife that appeals to you and the price suits you, then you just nailed it. The Definition line of Henckels International is a well-constructed collection of knives. Each knife is made from high quality stainless steel. One piece of this steel runs from the tip of the blade to the end of the handle for sturdiness and stability. The handle is arched to fit tightly into your palm, and is sculpted so your fingers in optimal position.
These are excellent knives for daily use. The Chef's knife will prep any meal, the utility and paring knives help with crusty breads and sandwiches and peeling and coring, respectively.
Hone them regularly and sharpen them once a year. I hand wash all my knives so they look brand new, but they are dishwasher safe.

Good starter set
These knives are the traditional German design with a durable three rivet handle and a sharp, fine edge blade. The three knives will cover most simple tasks you need to perform. The parer for small fruits or veggies you hold in your hand. The serrated utility tackles anything hard on the outside and soft on the inside; some call it their tomato knife. And the chef knife is your work horse, taking on the larger jobs.

This is a good quality knife set and if you are beginning your culinary journey it will provide you with a good knife to learn beginning knife skills. As you grow you will be better able to decide what is the best cutlery to spend more on but no sense spending alot until you know what will be best for you.

A great set for outdoor use - picnics, camping, concerts, RVing, etc. Leave the good knives at home and travel with this set. Lightweight and super comfortable handles makes them easy to use. Also easy to wipe clean. These 3 are much used knives and so practical.
