Its fine edge is razor sharp and will have amazing edge retention. The molded handle is the perfect solution for someone who prefers a lighter knife but doesn't want to sacrifice quality. This utility knife with its shorter 6" blade is perfect for someone who finds 8" to be too much. It's a great knife for cutting up fruits and vegetables or slicing through small cuts of meat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This could also be referred to as a '5 inch Paring I use this knife even more than I thought I would. The height of the blade is much shorter than the 6 inch utility knife so it's more like an extra long paring knife. Also, and because of this aspect of its geometry you can use it for really fine, delicate 'finishing' prep. I use it ALL the time for mincing herbs, shallots and garlic. Absolutely LOVE this knife it has quickly become one of my kitchen work horses. Thank you ZWILLING I have been a fan of your Four Star series since the seventies and now have 17 different blade types all of which I use for the tasks they were designed for.

The handle is designed to fit comfortably in your hand and not slip while using it. Made from specially formulated steel this knife will resist corrosion and retain its razor sharp edge longer than other knives. I love the six inch utility...it's between a paring knife and a chef's knife and can tackle most any cutting job and is easy to maneuver.

Its also ice hardened so blade will stay sharper for a longer period of time. The handle is comfortable and lightweight, a nice option compared to other heavy handle knives.

What is the difference between the Four Star 6" utility knife and the 6" carving knife?  We are looking to replace a 6" from a set we have from many years back.   The measurement we are looking for is 1 1/4 " (as opposed to the 1 1/2 w/the6" chef's knife.

The question is what is the difference between the 6 inch "utility" knife and the 6 inch "carving" knife.  I already understand that the chef's knife is wider, as I indicated in my original question.   Could you please provide the width of the utility blade and the carving blade so that I can make an informed purchase.

Will Henckels replace a knife if it breaks?

All of our knives carry a lifetime warranty. This covers any breakage or defects found under normal use. The warranty does not cover misuse or normal ware and tare.
