Handsome machine, great coffee, one annoying catch
I went to my local kitchen store hoping to find an Oxo or a Bonavita but was greeted instead by Zwilling’s successful attempt at making a handsome, serious, and sophisticated coffee maker. Reinforced by a good sales pitch and a competitive price, I bought this thing (in black) and the matching grinder. Three months of use later (weekends only), I’m a very happy camper
Design-wise, the Zwilling solves one of the least attractive components of competing coffee makers: the water tank. On most other machines, the tank is a boring plastic container, an awkward empty space in the overall composition of the machine. Plastic can discolor or fog up over time. But by reeding (fluting? channeling?) the plastic, it uses a design trend (reeded glass is everywhere in architecture now) to turn a boring reservoir into a textured piece that is integral to the design while potentially hiding and anticipating the aging of the plastic. Credit to the designers! (They should be credited more openly on your packaging, by the way. As a design professional, I would have liked to see that front and center.)
The interface is great, with a smooth dial that is sturdy to the touch, and a sleek, ghosted LCD display that disappears behind the plastic shell when the machine is turned off. It’s fun and straightforward. Very good.
Coffee: excellent! I'll let the SCA and the distinguished coffee gatekeepers tell you all about that on their respective YouTube channels.
Hotplate: I absolutely love the strict time limit. Zwilling keeps your coffee hot for 30 minutes, no more. If you think your coffee should “cook” longer, then may I suggest Tim Hortons.
Winter tip: I leave my coffee machine in potentially freezing conditions (if the power goes out), so I make sure to drain all the water out of the boiler/channels by flipping the hole machine over and letting water trickle out of the tank inlet and the shower head (I rock the machine back and forth, gently, while upside down). Seems like I can get about a quarter cup of water out that might otherwise stay in the boiler and expand if frozen.
Now to the Achilles’ heel. This is picky, but important. And it might not be the same with every machine, but with mine, my already paper-thin patience is tested to torturous heights. The spring-loaded “pause” valve on the basket--the one actuated by the carafe’s domed lid opening—constantly catches on the carafe. In fact, I would say that 99% of the time, the carafe is incapable of being inserted between the basket and the hotplate unless I manually push up the spring. No big deal, right? Just get over it. I’m probably being picky, right? Not so fast. This is an essential part of the daily functionality and enjoyability of an otherwise high-quality machine that instead feels plasticky, untested, and unnecessarily dysfunctional. The machine is definitely Zwilling, but the pause valve feels like it’s all Sunbeam. If you come out with an improved version of the basket that fixes this, please let me know! I’m tired of calculating the correct angle of approach and speed that will allow me to dock my carafe properly (which is almost never).
I definitely recommend this machine! Get it.

The machine is nice and works well. The Glass carafe is thin glass that is easily broken and no replacements exist either from Zwilling or third party.

Simple coffeemaker but more visible cup markers
I bought this machine last month and have really enjoyed using it. It's a simple machine with the bloom feature which makes a difference in how the coffee tastes. It brews coffee hot but only if you brew 6 cups or more. I brew 4 cups and by the time I had cream it's not piping hot in my cup. The cup markers on the reservoir and caraffe need to be much darker for accessibility. I can't easily read either unless they're against a black background. All in all a good machine.

Cheap for the price, many features don't work
Just get a cheap one. The coffee tastes about the same as a $30 machine and the timer function doesn't work reliably. As another commenter said, once it's time to clean there is no getting around it or no delaying. You'll just have to buy a coffee on the way to work. The water reservoir doesn't come out which is a pain to fill. I wish I would have just bought a cheap one and saved the extra money to spend on beans.

I am a big fan of your Zwilling's spokesman, Xiao zhan who is a Chinese star. My hubby bought the coffee maker and the grinder for me as gifts because I am Zhan's fan, a coffee lover and a Zwilling's loyal customer. We both love drinking coffee and love this set very much. It is so enjoyable to start a day by drinking soft, creamy, just right black coffee made by this machine as the first sip.

I’ve just got the machine and it looks great. Haven’t tried brewing coffee yet, but the intruction said it needs regular descaling otherwise it will stop brewing coffee. Watch out for that.

The carafe broke after only a few uses. Is there anyway to order a replacement? If so, how?
I just contacted their customer support to order a replacement carafe and their answer was that it is NOT possible. This is very disappointing for the price paid. It also creates electronic waste, which is not a good look for a brand like Zwilling. I am shocked and very disappointed by such lousy service and I don't think that I will be buying from Zwilling anymore. I bought a toaster from them and it doesn't even grill in the middle. Their service told me to return my toaster for inspection. Not sure what I'm supposed to grill my toast while it gets shipped somewhere for ''inspection'', then what? Lousy and disappointing for a brand that is supposed to be higher-end. Clearly, their support doesn't match this.
