Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light and Sharp My daughter's favorite knife. she is learning to cook and likes to help chop the vegetables. This knife is just the right size and weight for her petite hand. I like the classic style and the balance of the knife. The shape of this blade makes it perfect for chopping and mincing. the Pro S series is a high quality line. The Santoku is a perfect complement to this line.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Traditional Santoku The best things about this knife is its made from German Special Formula Steel and forged from one piece of steel. This knife will last a lifetime. A little secret - the angle on the blade is cut to an Asian standard, 9-12 deg on each side, so it feels like a Japanese knife when you use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect knife We eat a LOT of salads and vegetables and this is the perfect knife. We've had it for a couple of years... and it light and balanced. A must for every kitchen. Last Christmas we gifted this knife to our adult kids for their kitchens and now am now ordering one for my sister. Glad to see it is still available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great German Santoku knife The Zwilling Pro “S” is a great traditional German knife collection. I like that it has a full bolster to protect my fingers from the blade. The high carbon stainless steel won’t tarnish over time and it’s constructed to be an extremely durable and sharp knife that will last for a long time. This is a great Santoku that has that Asian blade shape but German durability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharpest Knife in the Block Purchased to coordinate with the Professional "S" block set. Asian blade angle makes for the sharpest knife in the block. Straight edge great for slicing, dicing, mincing, and precision cutting of vegetables.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You can't go wrong with this Pro S santoku, ideal for chopping and mincing food. The hollow edge divets on the blade help to guide food up and off of the knife, keeping out of the way during those smaller tasks. The Pro S handle is extremely comfortable and overall the knife is perfectly weighted and balanced.

What kind of knife sharpener do you recommend for this knife?

Asked by: CordeliaZ
Hello, are you saying this is the only one you recommend? ZWILLING J.A. Henckels TWIN 1731 9" Sharpening Steel

"We sharpen most of our knives to 15 degrees, but our santoku knives are sharpened to 10 degrees. I have a TWINSHARP Duo Stainless Steel Handheld Knife Sharpener. Can I sharpen my Santoku on this along with my other knives?

Asked by: Mischvus
No, the sharpening mechanisms in our Zwilling/Twin sharpeners are not angled appropriately to sharpen Santoku and other Japanese-style knives. Those knives are best sharpened with stones or steels.

What is the difference between the Pro 7" Santoku and the Pro "S" 7" Santoku? Thank you.

Asked by: Jethro
The Professional "S" line has a full bolster between the blade and the handle, and a thicker handle than does the Pro line, which features half-bolsters between the blade and the handle. Both lines have forged blades, made using the same high-quality German steel.

Can this knife be sharpened on my Chef'sChoice model 130 sharpener as an american 20 degree blade?

Asked by: petehen
We sharpen most of our knives to 15 degrees, but our santoku knives are sharpened to 10 degrees. We recommend maintaining those angles when sharpening.
