Description

Kanren, which means “connection” in Japanese, is a collection that beautifully illustrates the union of German engineering with Japanese craftsmanship. This wide-bladed knife is designed for efficient chopping, slicing, and dicing of meat, poultry, fish, and vegetables. The FC61 core is embedded in 48 layers of stainless steel which make up the unique Damascus pattern on the knife, protecting the blade from corrosion and chipping. The cutting edge is Honbazuke-honed in Seki, Japan, a three-stage grinding, sharpening, and polishing process that results in razor-like sharpness. With its curved bolster and comfortable black linen Micarta handle, this knife delivers the ultimate in ergonomic, fatigue-free cutting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This knife is amazing! I absolutely love this knife. I never used a Nakiri before this knife and now it is my go to knife. I love the feel of the knife, the Micarta handle has a nice smoothness to it, and it fits really well in my hand. The curved bolster aspect is amazing, once you use a Zwilling knife with that feature, you don’t want another knife without it! Really provides a comfortable grip, especially for when you’re chopping foods. I love the look of this knife, it’s so beautiful with the 48 layers of the FC61 steel. A great knife to use, it’s a nice size if you want a cleaver style knife.

This knife is not only beautiful with its Damascus blade, but its razor sharp, true to Japanese knives. Unlike most Japanese knives, it's made of very durable, chip resistant steel that protects that thin, sharp edge. I love the western style handle that's comfortable and is made of Micarta that has the look and feel of wood, but is as durable as a synthetic material. The curved bolster, an innovative feature of the Zwilling Pro knives, makes it incredibly comfortable in every hand. The Nakiri is a true Japanese blade designed to chop fruit and vegetables without having to drag the blade through your food. My sons love to cook and this is their favorite knife.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this knife and had only used a Nakiri knife a few times before I got this one. It has quickly become one of my most used knives in the kitchen. I cook a lot so having a wide blade that I can prep meat, poultry and vegetables with is importat to me. I love the curved bolster as it creates fatigue-free chopping, slicing and dicing, as well as supports the pinch grip! The black linen micarta handle feels luxurious in my hand and I also love the look of it. This is the perfect knife for anyone (me) that prepares their meals from scratch and needs a sharp assistant!

This versatile knife combines the beauty and function of Western and Asian-style innovations. Equipped with an elegant, ergonomic handle, this knife offers complete comfort and balance all the way up to the exclusive curved bolster for a true pinch grip. Not to mention, the incredible Damascus blade doing all the work up top, staying sharp and durable for years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This blade shape is new to me and I love it. I find myself using it for everything from big prep jobs to slicing cinnamon roll dough. It is so versatile. The core of the blade is made from FC61 carbide steel and its surrounded by an additional 48 layers which create a beautiful Damascus pattern. The traditional Western 3 riveted handle is made from black linen micarta and is exceptionally comfortable even after hours of working a big job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile! As the name of this collection states, the Kanren truly shows the perfection of the "connection" between German and Japanese work in knife crafting. The Nakiri resembles the shape of a cleaver but is much easier to maneuver and it is not as daunting. It has the perfect shape for easy handling, ideal for cutting veggies, fruits, herbs, and meat. Truly a versatile knife! The F61 steel core blade is resistant to corrosion thanks to the 48 layers of stainless steel and results in the GORGEOUS Damascus pattern. The Micarta handle is also beautiful and I can't help noticing its pretty pattern when I use it. The ergonomic handle itself is super comfortable to hold and makes for effortless handling. A quality knife such as this really allows you to let the knife do the work. The enjoyable experience comes as no surprise from this premium Japanese knife- a German engineered knife. This knife is a must-have and an ideal gifting for any occasion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Nakiri is a great partner in the kitchen. Chops, minces, dices, cubes and slices almost any fruit, veggie or meat. Made to be used with the chopping motion this will soon become your go to knife. These knives are an exceptional example of German engineering melding with Japanese craftsmanship. Each knife is made from the same FC 61 steel that is used in premium razor blades, which speaks to its cutting edge retention, chip resistance and strength. A total of 48 layers of beautiful Damascus steel surround the core. Hand sharpened and honed, each one of these knives are hand crafted by 46 Japanese artists in Seki Japan. The curved bolster enables the whole length of the blade to be used for cutting and chopping and also creates a comfortable grip to ease wrist fatigue. The linen Micarta handle has a gorgeous wood look that feels firm and safe to grip. The impeccable balance, weight, stunning appearance and acute edge makes Kanren a must have knife.

Designed to chop lots of vegetables- It will remind you of a cleaver, only much easier to handle and control. This is a beautiful knife out of the box. Smooth and easy to hold due to the innovative bolster. Unbeleivably sharp and well balanced. Chop like a Pro with this beauty!
