ZWILLING J.A. Henckels 10-inch Sharpening Steel is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeping my knives sharp I always saw this piece of equipment and never knew what it was for and once I learned more about it, I don't know what I did without it! A honing steel is meant to be used to make sure that your blade stays straight so that it stays sharper longer. I read that it is supposed to be used every time you use the knife, but I found that if I do it once a week (usually on Sunday's when I prep my meals for the week), my knives stay sharp for a very long time. I also love this particular honing steel because the handle gives me the perfect angle to hold the knife every time!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'd never had any idea of how to use one of these, so I watched a video. Now I don't have a dull knife in the house, from paring knife to machete. We'd always had a Zwilling knife and steel in the house as far as I remember. Mine didn't get the tag with the twins.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It super important to use a honing steel to keep your knives performing their best in between annual sharpening. If you are uncertain how to use one you can simply watch a how to video and within minutes you'll be realigning your knives and you'll be impressed with the difference it makes. This sharpening steel has a bit of extra length at 12 inches and an oval shape as opposed to round which provides more surface area for the edge to have contact with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple Knife Maintenance Honing your knife once every week or two will keep it as sharp as it was when new. This honing steel can maintain any German knife and even some of your Asian knives bacause of the hardness. Every time you cut with your knife, you ever so slightly bend the blade. Honing simply realigns the blade making it sharp again. It is very simple but watching a quick utube video will make you an expert.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice weight This sharpening steel has enough heft to help hone your knives easily. If they are too light , you cant seem to get enough pressure to make a difference on the blade. The handle is comfortable and makes it simple to get the correct angle, the correct pressure and the correct motion to properly maintain the edge on your knives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Liek peanut butter and jelly Peanut butter and jelly, knife and honing steel, you can't have one wihtout the other. The honing steel maintains the edge, keeping it sharp, without removing steel. It would be like owning a car an never changing the oil. After much practice and youtube videos, I actually find honing to be theraputic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Honing steel This is a great tool for helping maintain the edge and sharpness on your German knives. By using it often, your Zwilling knives will stay sharper longer and help retain their factory edge, meaning you won't have to worry about them dulling out so quickly or sharpening more often.

Will the oval design of this steel fit the zwilling twin 16 slot knife block? I would like a 12in steel but this block is described As being 11in. Would this extend beyond the bottom of the block & not hit the counter top?

Asked by: T 125
This item would not fit the 16 slot knife block.

5 yrs ago I purchased (2) knives at a store. They are great. They are both Cronidur 30. On the receipt the items are 33908-180 and 33908-200. Can I bring them to an authorized dealer to sharpen? What steel or stone is good for these knives?

Asked by: The_Cheeb
You may use any of our Zwilling/Twin branded sharpening steels, stones, or pull-through sharpeners on your Cronidur knives. We also professionally sharpen (non-serrated) kitchen knives through our Zwilling Edge service here: https://zwillingonline.practicaldatacore.com/mod_zwillingEdge/
