Staub Cast Iron Coq au Vin Cocotte, Dutch Oven, 5.75-quart, serves 5-6, Made in France, Cherry is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 266.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seriously, this bright cherry oven is the best pot in my house, and I have plenty! On Sundays I always make a chicken stewed in wine and veggies, hence the name Coq au vin, the shape is perfect to cook everything easily without crowding anything. The basting lid keeps the top of my Chicken moist until I remove the lid for a touch of crisping, I bring it to the table and serve the veggies from there because it is so lovely and the lid suggests what will be coming too. This is one piece that will make you smile everytime you even think of making a roast chicken, or any other protein that fit better in an oval cocotte!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice cast iron pot So many dutch ovens are round. I really like the oval design on this one. The natural properties of cast iron make it heat very evenly and hold temperature for a long time. The enamel coating means no seasoning and easy cleanup. The black matte interior gives great browning and the braising spikes on the lid keep my food moist. I like doing a whole chicken in here but even more i like to do a nice long braise in pieces. The rooster knob is available separately but comes with this model......bonus. The exterior enamel color is super attractive and is so much easier to clean than regular cast iron.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like the OVAL better than round Cocotte This oval had been in my bucket lust for a long time.. started out with 4 Qt Round on sale. When I found this oval on sale I jumped at it & am glad I did. I use it more often, it holds more & bigger variety of cuts of meat as well. Staub makes a top quality product & I love that with the black interior I’m not obsessing over the clean up like I would be with a Le C… the spikes on the lid really do distribute the moisture back into your meal as a bonus. Very happy with all my Staub pieces & my collection is growing! When my non stick old pots/pans wear out I’ll never need to replace them as I now how THE best in Staub.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My New Go To Pot I love my new Dutch Oven! It is the perfect size for making soups, stews, roasts and whole chickens. And it cleans up like a dream! I had a difficult time deciding on a color, but I am very happy I chose Genedine; it’s a deep, rich burgundy looks beautiful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic This cocotte is a classic and should be a staple in all kitchens. The dark matte interior heats evenly, and holds on to the heat, so no hot spots. Great for stew, chili, soups, sauces, braises, and of course Coq au Vin. Looks great on the table as well as keeps the food nice and hot. Staub is made in France and is resistant to chipping which is why I have also seen it being used in some of the restaurants my husband and I frequent. The beautiful enamel is three dimensional, and the piece is truly a visual work of art. But don't let that fool you, the cocotte is constructed in such a way that it really helps add flavor, color and professional results to your cooking. This pan has truly elevated my cooking.

Hello! I was wondering how the bottom of it has been holding up for all of you? No matter how careful I am with my roasters/pots/pans, trying not to ever drag but place gently on stove (gas), the bottom gets scraped. This would be my first Staub, Thanks!

Asked by: trambiazula
Some scrapes and scratches are normal over time. Please be assured your Staub cocotte was designed to withstand a lot of wear and tear. The only ways to prevent scratching are to lift and gently place the cookware down and clean with soft sponges or cloths and non-abrasive detergents.

Is the white color a bright white or an off white? And does the white become discolored from the stove or oven heat?

Asked by: JanLovesToCook
Staub White on cast iron is brighter than off-white. It is slightly warmer and more muted than our ceramic white, which is a true, bright white. The enamel can become discolored if scorched or not cleaned/cared for properly. You can find Use & Care guidelines included with your purchase and/or on http://www.staubusa.com toward the bottom right hand side of the homepage.

Please advise exact dimensions—want to use in Breville SOA which can take up to 5.8qt Dutch oven, but as this is shaped in an oval, I’m afraid the width may not work? 9” x 13” is the size of the roasting pan that is one of its accessories.

Asked by: Tanzee10
The dimensions of this product are 14.8" long (with handles) X 12.2" wide X 8" tall.
