I love my Staub products
Have switched to mostly all cast iron cooking and am loving the results. This cast iron rectangular item starts on the stove and moves to the oven and then to the table. Best ever.

Nice quality, but very small!
This is a really nice quality dish, but very small and shallow! The 15 x 9 is the outer diameter including the wood base. I think I can only use it for warm appetizers. You can't use it like you would expect for the 15 x 9 dimensions. Return shipping is at your own expense, and has to be tracked like UPS or FedEx, so I'm stuck with it. Maybe I can gift it.

With its rough texture for browning meat and veggies, will this pan also work well for pancakes and French toast?
I didn't try pancakes with this particular item, but with another Staub product. They tended to stick no matter how much butter I used and didn't turn out very well. I would recommend instead nonstick Teflon or ceramic for pancakes and eggs. Others seem to be able to use cast iron for egg-based dishes, but it doesn't seem to work for me.

My Bosch induction cooktop has a burner that is 15" x 9" and I want to cook on all of it. Is the cooking surface on this dish 15" x 9" or is that the size of the holder?
The dish itself is 12.9 x 8.9 x 1.6".
