Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great place to start with better knives This is a good starter set because it has all you need to start preparing fabulous meals from scratch. The chef's knife is the knife that professionals use for just about everything. The paring and serrated utility are specialty knives for smaller tasks - peeling & coring; slicing crusty breads and tender tomatoes. These knives are lightweight without compromising blade sharpness. You can do a lot of work with them without fear of fatigue. Maintained properly, they will last many years. Extremely good value. The Solution line of knives is a good step up to quality stamped steel cutlery. The knives are made from high quality German steel that will not stain or rust or pit. They are made - from the tip of the blade to the heel of the handle - from a single piece of steel providing terrific stability. It feels good in the hand and does the work efficiently.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Henckels 6" chefs knife: 55 years and still great My husband and I got a Henckel's 6" chef's knife and 4" utility knife as wedding gifts when we married in 1975 and they're still the most used and dependable tools of my kitchen. I sharpen them once a month and they hold an edge, even though I cook once or twice a day. These knives have prepped thousands of good meals over the past 55 years. I'm giving the boys our originals and buying myself some new ones to celebrate.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No regrets, nice knife set. This king set is pretty nice. All the knifed seem sturdy, well made and very sharp. The serrated edge is well carved and does a good job cutting foods for which that type of blade edge is preferred. The variety, though only three knifes in this set really is a good variety and covers really all types of blade cut that’s needed for most dining experiences. I also like the smoothness of the handles, designed to fit nicely in a hands grip for ease and comfort during use. All and all, comparable as to the price and utility as to similar knife sets, and I would recommend for basic culinary cutting needs.

Each knife is extremely versatile, making this starter set a fantastic value. The Solution knives have comfortable handles and obviously sharp blades, getting you started with a great set for meal prep.

Why a review from a purchase so long ago? Simply put, it is my testament of how reliable and exceptional J.A. Henckels knives are! Far less fear of German steel from rusting, after use I hand wash and dry them immediately! LOVE THEM! With reasonable care, it's guaranteed to be a 100% positive buy to last a lifetime!

While they are stamped, they are well balanced with a three riveted classic handle design. They are made with a high quality stainless steel and are finely honed to have the initial sharpness last over time. They are dishwasher safe but I prefer to hand wash my set.

The Chef lets you do the majority of your cutting and slicing, the serrated blade is good for bread and tomatoes, and the paring allows you to work with things in your hand. It’s a good way for someone to get everything they need for a low price.
