Great Set!
I was looking for a cutlery set to replace my Faberware set I have had for years. They were given to me and weren't the best but I made do and now that I am cooking everyday I wanted something that would stand up to constant use and was of good quality. I have used a few of the knives so far and it's like cutting butter, it is just effortless. The best part was I was able to get these on sale so it made it and even better buy! J.A. Henckels are one of the best names in this field and I can see why. When I need other kitchen items I will definitely check out them first.

Good value
A quick search will tell you Henckle is one of the best knife brands, but sometimes the price is a bit too extravagant. That is where a knife set like this comes in. Same goal of producing high quality knives but at more affordable prices. The styling is quite modern and fits well with my kitchen. The knives are forged stainless steel and they are not flimsy which is a risk you can take when buying knives. I appreciate the full steel construction and textured handles which you would be hard pressed to damage. I also appreciate that the knives are dishwasher safe, although I will probably hand wash. All and all I am happy with my purchase.

Very Poor Quality !
I got this set as a gift last week and after the very first time of use there are rust spots on the steak knifes (I hand washed it and left to air dry). I understand they are not very expensive but I have never had issues like that with this brand. So now I'm stuck with this crappy set because I feel bad about asking for a receipt. If I had a choice I would definitely upgrade to twin signature set made in Germany. Do not wast your money.

Sharp and Reliable
The essential set is included with the chef knife, santoku, bread knife, utility, pairing knives, and steak knives. Scissors and sharpening steel included as well.
Preparation is much smoother than when I was using a lesser set. The santoku and chef knives are a wonderful departure from my previous tools. Instead of struggling with cutting an onion, pepper, or melon these knives require less effort. The construction looks to be one piece of steel. No more cheap plastic handles that feel cheap and break. These knives feel sturdy and durable. I recommend this set for those who enjoy cooking. It has the majority of what you'd need.

Very nice set, but...
Very nice set, but going on only 1 year old, and already have some with rust spots, pitting & actual breakage of the blade.. I never put them in the dishwasher, hand
washing only; always using a plastic neoprene cutting board. Other than these issues, I love the style & weight of this set; however, it makes it hard to recommend.

Sexy and well balanced
It’s rare in this world to have something in your hand that is both sexy and well balanced. While these characteristics typically aren’t found together in people, this knife set doesn’t disappoint. They’re not looking for the attention of other men, but they get it. And when they do, they don’t respond at all. They just carry on doing their thing flawlessly. Everyone comments on how beautiful and perfect they are and yet they’re always here at the end of the night, never causing any concern as to their loyalty. They are always here for me and never let me down. These are mine, but you should get your own.

Necessary Upgrade
So far so goo. I love that the handle and knife are all one peiece that way they do not separate. I do wish that the knife it self had a little more weight to it, at least in the handle. I did receive a damaged block as well but am currently processing for a exchange of sorts. This reivew is also primarily to get the incientive as I have not had an adequate time to use the set to determine if I truely enjoy them. I beleive I will know for sure after I make my next major family meal in a few months. However, these appear to be far better than the set I had before so I'm confident they should be fine.

Amazing Knives!!!
I love cooking for my fiancé, but I’ve always struggled to find knives that last and have the standard of quality I’m looking for. Finally after using Henckles Knives, I’ve found them! All I can say is WOW. The comfortable grip along with the perfect weight in your hand. They have such an incredibly clean cut, and it’s clear they’re able to withstand the test of time. I’m blown away with this Knife Set. They’ve gained a lifelong customer!!

What's the hardness of these blades? What are the handles made of? There's reports of rusting. Are the knive blades forged or is it stamped/laser cut? Are the knives full tang?
The blades are 55-58 HRC. The handles are made of stainless steel.
There is carbon in the blades, so they can rust if not cared for properly. To prevent rusting, we recommend hand washing and promptly and thoroughly drying your cutlery before storage. To remove rust/other staining, you can use a cookware cleaner, like Bar Keepers Friend.
This style is forged. The knives are 1/3-2/3 tang with a metal end cap for improved balance.
