Henckels CLASSIC 16-pc Knife Block Set is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 204.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hoodwinked by the steak knives. Made in India No where on Kohls website in the description or in yours for that matter does it state the steak knives will not be forged or made in Spain. This is extremely deceptive. I see now this issue has been brough up for the last 3 years. Top it off the scissors are made in China. The steak knives are thin garbage. Zwilling should stand up and compensate their buyers with a decent steak set. Ridiculous. End of the day you get 5 knives that are forged and made in Spain. The block is nothing special the sharpener is quality of a dollar store sharpener and the scissors are flimsy. Beyond dissapointed here.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent knife set, EXCEPT:............ Steak knives are not forged but stamped! Too costly to place in a set such as this. You find that out in the small print. The steak knives are not made in Spain but Thailand. Maybe a bit less misleading advertising on these sets would be more in line.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Zwilling & Henckels - spectacular names in knives But, I'm very disappointed in the 'smallness' of the Knife handles, mostly the steak handles and the burrs on the steak knives. All but one of them has burrs on it, mostly at the tip. They're stamped knives and as such their quality isn't what I'm used to. I've owned fully forged knife sets in the past and unfortunately, this set doesn't even come close to comparing. Don't get me wrong, the scissors rock, the Chef and Carving knives are awesome and exactly as I expected - same goes for the paring and utility Knife - but the steak knives really ruin the set. Very disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful! My husband gave me these knives for my birthday and I love them. Everything says quality and they cut through food like butter! I really like the knife block too, it is attractive and a compact size with room for new additions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All I need I purchased this set because I wanted well priced German block set with steak knives. This set fits the bill! The assortment of knives was very important because I cook almost every night. I also wanted a set that came with steak knives so everything can be stored in one spot. This block is perfect! The knives have a traditional look with 3 rivets and a full bolster. They are made from high carbon stainless steel which makes them durable and high quality. The edges stay sharp, and the block comes with a honing steel which is essential for good edge maintenance. Saved a ton of money purchasing the block rather than buying the knives individually. These knives will last a long time and worth the one time investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OUTSTANDING I love the quality of this product. These knives are the best I’ve ever had and I would choose them over all my others! I love them and so does my wife. The steak knives are outstanding and we use them almost daily!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good starter set The wood block set looks good on my counter. Color of wood block is little darker than pictured. The knives are weighted properly so they're balanced in my hand. Doesn't tire my hands. Knives are not heavy.. The knife edges are sharp and last a long time before needing sharpening. The 8 steak knives have the everidge, can't sharpen them when dull. Good set for beginner cooks. Wood block still has 3 empty slots to expand the set. Have photos, for some reason can't upload to this site.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unhappy with quality Serrated knife set not particularly sharp at purchase. Should have returned. Also learned that serrated knives in general are difficult to sharpen.

what is the difference between the classic and the forged premio series?

Asked by: alliegirl
Both series are from high-quality German stainless steel. And have the fully forged construction which offers durability and a seamless transition from blade to handle. Henckels Classic is top of the line. Traditional triple-rivet handle provides balance and comfort and is sturdy. Kitchen knives made in Spain. Henckels Forged Premio: Modern, triple-rivet design handle is curved for comfort with our Stainless steel, logo-stamped endcap is stylish and sturdy. Made in China

All the pieces are made in Spain?

Asked by: Ramirez
Their website claims they are made in Spain.  However, the steak knives have Thailand stamped on them. Macy’s website claims the samething.  As you can see no one from Zwilling has responded to my question or to your question.  Seems kind of shady.

I am debating between this set and ZWILLING J.A. Henckels TWIN Gourmet 18-pc Knife Block Set. I am finding it hard to decided, one is 'twin' series and this one, especially since one is 'forged' and the other is 'stamped' Please help me decide!

Asked by: Ms Chef
Both the Classic and TWIN Gourmet are made in Spain, and as you mention, the Classic is forged and the TWIN Gourmet is stamped. Forged knives are heftier and have a true bolster where the handle meets the blade, this provides weight and balance. Stamped knives are thinner and lighter, and therefore more nimble. It really comes down to personal preference as to which is better. The other main difference between the two series is the steel used. The TWIN Gourmet series uses our proprietary ZWILLING Special Formula Steel, the same steel used in most of our German-made knives. This is the only series made outside of Germany that uses this steel. The Classic series uses German high carbon steel, however it is not the same as our Special Formula steel. Both series are great choices, both sets contain all the knives you will need for almost any cooking situation you would encounter day-to-day. The decision really comes down to whether you prefer a heavier, classic forged knife, or a lighter stamped knife.
