Non-cutting manicure instruments
Among the non-cutting instruments are nail cleaners, nail scrapers, files, tweezers and callus rasps.
Files
Sapphire files are steel files with a coarse and fine file surface. They come in various sizes and are also available as folding files for the handbag. Ceramic files are made entirely of ceramic; they are very effective and gentle. The rough side of all files is used for forming and the fine side for smoothing.
Tweezers
There are three main tweezers designs with pointed, straight or slant tip. Pointed tweezers are for splinters, straight tweezers remove small hairs and slanted tweezers can be used to do both. The tips must close completely when lightly pressed, this shows that the tweezers grasp well. Both the evenly and thinly ground inner surface of the tips and the perfectly fitting points are very important.
The specially formed tip of angular tweezers exerts considerably greater pressure and safely removes unwanted hair from eyebrows.
The automatic tweezers are for plucking eyebrows. The tweezers grasp and remove the hair automatically by exerting pressure on the shanks.
Callus removers / rasps
Callus removers have a sharp exchangeable blade and are instruments mainly used for professional pedicure. The callus rasp is recommended for the removal of corns. It can be used dry or wet. The rough, galvanised surface remains sharp without risks of injury.
