Care and treatment of flatware

Der richtige Umgang mit Besteck

Care and storage

Flatware by ZWILLING J.A. HENCKELS is dishwasher safe. To obtain lasting satisfaction from flatware, it is important, however, to observe some guidelines.

Cleaning

Flatware should be cleaned directly after use because food residues can attack the metal. This applies especially for all flatware pieces that are made of chrome nickel steel, in this case hollow-handled knives and monobloc knives. Unsightly stains can be removed easily.

Cleaning in the dishwasher

Place knives, forks and spoons in the flatware basket with the handles facing down. Do not sort the articles by type; they are cleaned more efficiently when they are placed loosely in the flatware basket. Follow your dishwasher’s instructions concerning the dosage of detergent. Flatware should be removed from the dishwasher 10-20 minutes after the cycle has finished.

Maintenance products

Stains, light rust and residual deposits which may occasionally occur can be removed with a liquid, non-abrasive metal cleaner.

Storage

Flatware is best kept individually in a flatware canteen. Keeping flatware in synthetic flatware baskets where the pieces keep touching each other may lead to unsightly blemishes in time; these do not affect the performance of the flatware in any way.
