3. Assembly

During the assembly the nipper blades are screwed together. The
blades and points are mated. In contrast to scissors, nippers are assembled in an unhardened condition. The cutting edges of nippers must fit precisely so that the nail or protruding edge of skin can be smoothly and cleanly cut.

The most important steps are:

  1. The steel is made workable by inductive heating and the milled opening in the box blade is widened with a special tool.

  2. The between blade is inserted.

  3. The box is pressed together in a press.

  4. The box is bored through both blades.

  5. Riveting.

4. Hardening

Hardening: influencing the cutting properties and corrosion resistance.

The most important manufacturing steps are:

  1. Heating

  2. Cooling

  3. Tempering to avoid stress related damages

ZWILLING J.A. HENCKELS has optimised the hardening process
for high-grade steels. This refined steel is called FRIODUR® and is a globally protected trademark.
