The Pope dines with ZWILLING J.A. HENCKELS.

He is Germany’s first pope since Hadrian VI. who reigned 482 years ago. The world worships Benedikt XVI, born Joseph Ratzinger in the small town of Marktl am Inn in Bavaria, a pope who is proud of his German roots. Whenever he sits down to dinner in his Vatican apartment he can reminisce: the Holy Father stylishly dines with flatware that was given to him by ZWILLING J.A. HENCKELS.

The papal kitchen has recently been fitted with two highlights for the pontiff’s table: a 7-piece TWIN Cuisine knife block and two 24-piece “Meteo” flatware sets. All items are adorned with the pontiff’s insignia – the flatware pieces on the handle, the kitchen knives at the bolster and also the knife block itself.

It was the idea of Massimo Morara, managing director of the Italian subsidiary of ZWILLING J.A. HENCKELS, to introduce German quality products to the papal kitchen. He set things in motion when he learned that the pope was going to refurbish his apartment on the third floor of the “Palazzo Vaticano” with a brand new high-tech kitchen as the focal point.
