There are three main designs of tweezers with mouths which end
pointedly, straight or at a slant. The pointed tweezers are for splinters, the straight tweezers remove small hairs, the slanted tweezers can be used to do both. The mouth must close completely when mild pressure is exerted, this shows that the tweezers grasp well. The even, face ground inner surface of the tweezers mouth is as important as the perfectly fitting points.
The specially formed mouth of angular tweezers exerts considerably greater pressure; these tweezers are used to safely remove eyebrow hairs.
The automatic tweezers are for plucking eyebrows. The tweezers
grasp and remove the hair automatically by exerting pressure on
the tweezers.
Callus removers have a sharp exchangeable blade and are instruments mainly used in professional chiropody practices. The callus rasp is recommended for the removal of corns at home. It can be used in a dry or wet condition. The rough, galvanised surface remains sharp and presents no danger of injury.
