Care and treatment of knives

Care, safty, sharpening

6. Never try to catch a falling knife.

7. Wash sharp knives individually

Treat sharp knives with particular care when cleaning them. Never simply throw them into the washing-up water. For best results wash them directly after use under running water and dry them immediately. Dry the blade with the cloth folded over the back towards the cutting edge. Never wipe a knife along the cutting edge from the handle to the tip.

8. Do not place knives loose in the cutlery drawer

Keep knives in a knife block or on a wall mounted magnetic rack. If you use a rack take care to ensure that the magnets are powerful enough and that the knives are clean. A greasy or excessively heavy knife will not cling securely to the magnet.

9. Sharp knives must not fall into the hands of children

Keep sharp kitchen knives well away from the reach of children.

10. Never run your finger along the cutting edge - Not even to test it for sharpness.
